Valentines Day & My First Day of Work in 6 YEARS & A Store Announcement!

                              Happy Valentine's Day!
Tuesday was a very busy day! Valentine's Day is not usually celebrated in our house, nothing against the holiday but it is just a commercialized day. There shouldn't be one day a year for your special someone to make you feel special, or one day for you to make someone else feel special. The best days are the days when someone makes you feel and it is a total surprise. Anyways, today was a good day! I got a job that I totally didn't expect to get and today was my first day. Now it has been almost 6 years since I have "worked". *disclaimer, I have been an at home mom and a homemaker. I also started my online store this last year! So I guess I have been working. Working so much I can finally say my business is now consistently paying my mortgage!  This is such a HUGE accomplishment for my family! Also February 14th is Oregon's Birthday! Here are some fun Oregon Facts!
1.Oregon has more ghost towns than any other state.
2. Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States. It was formed more than 6,500 years ago. Its crystal-blue waters are world renowned.
3. Discovered in 1874 the caves located in Oregon Caves National Monument are carved within solid marble.
4. Eugene was the first city to have one-way streets.
5. At 8,000 feet deep Hells Canyon is the deepest river gorge in North America.
6. Oregon and New Jersey are the only states without self-serve gas stations!

7. The world's tallest barber shop pole stands in Forest Grove, Oregon.

8.Oregon is home to the world's shortest river The D River is only 121 feet long.

You can now find my items at local nail salon called A Show of Hands!  Which is on the corner of 6th and Savage St in Grants Pass! I have been getting my nails done here for 8 years! Crazy. They also have amazing tanning beds! I have such a hard time tanning my legs and she has a leg tanner that is AMAZING!!!  I just love it!!!

Also you can find my luggage tags at the Airport in Medford! We are just trying them out to see what happens, but I will be sure to keep you updated! I am excited for these adventures!

I made 20 of these and 15 smaller ones to fill my Valentine's day orders! I have tons of fun making these, but now that I will be working, I will have to cut back the number of orders I take! I wanted to thank everyone for you support!

 My edible arrangements come in a few sizes and are totally able to be customized. I have done many themes: Cowboy, Sports, Princess, Easter, Christmas. . ect The Possibilities are ENDLESS!!!

Holiday Bazaars and Shop Update!

 A Very Interesting Weekend!!!

              This weekend was my First Holiday Bazaar, and well lets say I am chalking it up as a lesson learned. I am not giving up on Holiday bazaars but I am going to be more selective in the bazaars I choose. Lets start at the beginning, so first  when I called the man "in charge" he was very hard to get a hold of and terrible at returning phone calls. (yes I know RED flag). When we finally got in touch he really grilled me and asked a ton of questions about what I was making. I thought okay he really wants to be selective as to who is at the bazaar. He also told me that he asks what each vendor makes so there are not any duplicates. After the long phone call I thought well I have nothing to loose I will set up shop. I was excited, nervous, anxious. I didn't know how much stuff to make, or how I was going to set up my booth display. So Saturday morning came and I went to the bazaar an hour before it started and set up and got all giddy and was ready to greet customers. Slowly other vendors trickled in and were setting up there booths and as I looked around I realized. . . . . wait this is not what I had expected.  There were  4 purse ladies(you know the one who buy knockoffs and then sell them), 2 Mary Kay reps, a lady selling tons of sheets. Now don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with selling that kind of stuff I just kinda, sorta expected it to be more handmade crafts, since it was called the Holiday CRAFT Bazaar. After seeing that I really kinda thought, man this guy fooled me.  SO with all that negative I decided well I need to make this positive.  I took notes on how I would display things better.

I also took note of  what questions I would ask when looking into a bazaar.

What other kind of booths would be there? Handmade or not?

      The good news is I did break even. So it didn't cost me anything but my time to be there, I even made enough to pay for the items I purchased for my display.  That was awesome.  I also met this totally awesome lady named Brooke she is the face behind SharpCouture. Her stuff is AMAZING! She also has a Facebook page. She sells totally awesome burlesque costumes and masks, totally adorable sock banks, feather earrings (she even dyes the feathers herself). EVERYTHING IS AMAZING!  Be sure to check it out and tell her I sent you!!!!

        Well with lessons learned, breaking even and meeting new people in the handmade world, it wasn't to bad of a weekend!  If you have a good or bad experience that you think the rest of us can learn from! Link up to my blog!!!

Crazy Busy!!!

I have been so busy this last week! I have been working on custom apron orders, inventory for a holiday bazaar, and taking care of my two kids and 6 pot belly piglets. I am exhausted! However I am finally on Vacation!!!!!However I did bring my sewing machine and my craft stuff, and I will be checking out a few awesome fabric stores.

Anyways there are a few things about Modern MayeFlower I wanted to discuss. First  the cut off date for Holiday Orders is December 15th. Since I am the only person who, cuts, irons and sews each apron, December 15th will be the last day to order to insure I get all the orders out in time for the Holidays. Also I know I have had some headbands and other things in my shop they will still be in there but my main focus is my aprons since I LOVE making them!! Third there will be an increase of inventory after the holiday season as well as a new item, reversible totes! I am super excited for them I have made a few and they are awesome!!! 

Now I want to Thank everyone for all the support you have given me. I have been so swamped with orders, it is amazing! I am so happy I have found a way to have an income, all while still being able to take care of my mother and wife duties. So Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me along the way! As of now most of my orders come through Facebook, so I want to remind everyone that I do have an Etsy Store. Also I now have a landing page so everything is easier to find. The Shop is OPEN!!!!!

The Shop is officially open!!!! It took a little longer then expected, due to all the orders that came in off Facebook. Now don't think I am complaining but it is a total relief to get the shop open.
